Dr Vlad Illie is an Australian trained Specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with appointments at Gosford Private Hospital, Gosford Public Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital and St Vincent's Public Hospital.

In his practice Dr Illie undertakes a broad range of procedures spanning between microsurgical reconstructions (with a focus on breast reconstruction), skin cancer surgery and cosmetic surgery.

After acquiring his Specialist degree through a five year extensive training in plastic surgery in major teaching hospitals in Sydney, Dr Illie has also completed two international fellowships in Oxford and Stuttgart to further his training. This complemented his experience in microsurgical breast reconstruction, complex nasal reconstruction, rhinoplasty and challenging microsurgery in lower limb sarcoma and bone infection.

The core of his practice is to offer safety and natural, long lasting results, at the same time customising treatments to include patients’ vision.

In addition to a Master of Surgery in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Vlad has been publishing his research and clinical work on a regular basis.

Dr Illie’s current research interests include Vascularised Composite Allotransplantation, investigating novel ways of monitoring heart and lung transplants with free flaps.

Dr Illie pursues an active academic program in the current role of Conjoint Associate Lecturer (UNSW Medicine) and previously as Instructor for Microsurgical Courses, Anatomy tutor, Anatomy demonstrator (The University of Sydney).
