Dr Andrew Hill completed medicine at the

University of Sydney, graduating with second-class

honours in 1987. Cardiology training occurred at Prince

Henry Hospital in 1993 and1994. Extra training was done

in all aspects of cardiac ultrasound, culminating in a

Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU). Dr Andrew Hill

commenced employment at Gosford Hospital as a Staff

Specialist Cardiologist and established the

transoesophageal echocardiogram service in 1995.

Dr Hill was a founding proceduralist at Brisbane Waters

Private Hospital Cardiac Angiography Unit, established in

1996. Through to 2022 Dr Andrew Hill has (through

Central Coast facilities) completed over 4400

percutaneous coronary interventions, making Dr Hill the

longest established procedural cardiologist on the Central

Coast, NSW. Dr Hill also established the Cardiac

Angiography Unit at Gosford Hospital in 2002, requiring

political lobbying and training of nursing staff. Dr Andrew

Hill recruited additional cardiologists to support Coronary

Artery Interventions and Coronary Artery Angiograms

initially performed by himself from September 2002

onwards. This remains in place.

Dr Hill has ongoing interventional appointments at

Gosford Hospital and Gosford Private Hospital, including

a preference for radial artery approaches. This is

associated with quicker patient recovery and less

bleeding.

Apart from coronary angiography, coronary intervention,

stent insertion and transoesophageal echocardiography, Dr

Hill is a clinician, an educator for advanced trainees

through Gosford and Wyong Hospitals and remains

integrated with Central Coast Health, including ongoing

on-call duties at both Gosford and Wyong Hospitals.

Dr Hill, through the Jarrett Street Specialist Centre,

provides follow up and clinical review to outpatients and

arranges, as well as reviews, standard echocardiography

studies, Holter monitors and medical histories relating to

cardiology. Through his consulting rooms, prolonged

rhythm monitoring is performed, as well as organising

coronary angiograms, coronary intervention, cardiac

ultrasound, exercise stress testing and patient reviews.

Dr Hill was a principal investigator for the GUSTO4,

Valiant, HERO2, TEMAMI and other benchmark trials.
