Dr Francis Ting is a urological surgeon who provides a comprehensive general urological service in a caring, meticulous manner with an emphasis on tailoring care to the individual patient.

Dr Francis Ting graduated from Monash University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery. Following 6 years of general medical and advanced surgical training, Dr Ting commenced his sub-specialty surgical training in Urology in 2016 and was subsequently awarded his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons as a Urological Surgeon in 2021. Dr Ting is a full member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ).

To gain further subspecialist experience Dr Ting completed a robotic pelvic urological oncology fellowship specialising in prostate and bladder cancer at University College London Hospital, which is the highest volume robotic pelvic urological-oncology centre in the United Kingdom. Following successful completion of his fellowship in August 2022, he obtained a consultant urologist post specialising in robotic prostatectomy at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, one of the largest urological cancer centres in Scotland. During this time, he was involved in the training and education of other urological surgeons in robotic surgery. In addition, he was involved in the streamlining of prostate cancer patient referral pathways in the Scottish NHS and was coordinator for the MRI prostate cancer planning meetings which is an integral mechanism for optimisation of outcomes for men undergoing robotic prostatectomy.

Currently, Dr Ting has Visiting Medical Officer appointments at Gosford Public and Wyong Public hospitals as well as regular operating sessions at Gosford Private hospital.

Whilst Dr Ting’s specialty interest is in urological cancer and robotic surgery, he also provides a comprehensive general urological service including the management of benign conditions such as urinary tract stones, benign prostate enlargement and voiding dysfunction. He is meticulous, caring and dedicated to optimising patient outcomes through delivery of the highest standard of urologic care.

Dr Ting has a strong interest and track record in research. In addition to completing a Masters of Public Health through Newcastle University and a Masters of Surgery (Urology) through the University of Sydney, he has also completed a year of full time research as the prostate cancer focal therapy research fellow at The Garvan Institute of Medical Research and The Kinghorn Cancer Centre. He has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and has presented research on a national and international level. Most recently he has written a book chapter on robotic surgery in urology.
