Dr Philip Markham BMedSci, MBChB, MRCSEd, FRACS, FAOrthA is an Orthopaedic Surgeon based on the Central Coast with local Public and Private appointments. He specialises in hip, knee, shoulder and trauma surgery. Dr Markham has expertise in:

– Primary and Revision Hip, Knee and Shoulder replacements

– Knee arthroscopy (ACL reconstruction, patella stabilisation and meniscal repair)

– Shoulder arthroscopy (rotator cuff repair, stabilisations and decompressions)

– Trauma (comprehensive skill set of upper and lower limb trauma surgery)

Dr Markham trained in Sydney and obtained RACS Fellowship in 2016 as part of the AOA (Australian

Orthopaedic Association) training program. Originally educated at the Edinburgh Medical School, Scotland, he completed his Basic Surgical Training in 2005, before moving to Sydney and working at hospitals throughout NSW and the ACT.

Following his AOA training, Dr Markham underwent Fellowships in Hip, Knee and Revision Arthroplasty with Prof. Paul Smith in Canberra and in Shoulder and Reconstructive Surgery on the Central Coast. Since completing the Fellowships Dr. Markham has worked locally in Gosford as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, doing regular trauma and public elective cases, and now holds a full appointment at Gosford and Wyong Public Hospitals. Dr Markham’s Consulting Rooms are based in central Gosford, and he has admitting rights at Brisbane Waters Private Hospital and Gosford Private Hospital.

Dr Markham employs a variety of surgical approaches and techniques, including anterior and posterior approaches to the hip, computer assisted surgery and the use of robotics in joint replacement, and is happy to discuss the merits of the different surgical techniques with his patients during their initial consultation.
